The story
It was built in 1910 for the Northern Implement Company, after the block's earlier building burned that May. Ford Motor Company took the first four floors in 1912, Pittsburgh Plate Glass bought the building in 1920, and it became leasable warehouse space in 1970. Kees and Colburn designed it.
In 2004, Trio Development Group and McGough turned about 171,000 square feet into 90 condos and added a small parking ramp at the back.
What stands out
- Chicago School styling: limestone first floor, terra-cotta panels, chamfered corners.
- Concrete floors and ceilings with large windows.
